AAA offers "Tow To Go" service Memorial Day weekend

Tampa Bay, Florida-- It's hard to imagine why one would risk getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, but AAA's "To to Go" program makes it that much harder. 

According to AAA's website, "To to Go" offers intoxicated drivers a free, confidential ride to a safe place within a 10 mile radius, along with a free tow for their car.

Convicted felon wanted, caught mid burglary

Winter Haven, Florida-- Winter Haven Police officers are asking for the public's help in finding a convicted felon with quite the criminal history, who now has a warrant out for another arrest. 

According to a report sent Thursday, 43-year-old Alfred Butler Floyd is wanted for a home burglary that took place off the 1700 block of 3rd Street NE on Monday, May 13. 

A resident, who was home at the time, reportedly caught Floyd in the process and confronted him before he raced out of the home and ran away. 

UPDATE: Missing Winter Haven girl found

Winter Haven, Florida -- UPDATE: Winter Haven Police say they've located missing Winter Haven teen Allyssa Marie Atkinson after she went missing on Monday.

Atkinson, 16, went missing Monday morning after she was taken to Pope Avenue NW by a DCF worker for a doctor's appointment. She then left the medical facility in an unknown direction after she was left unattended momentarily.

Police searched the area and were unable to find her.

Polk County Schools names new superintendent

Polk County, Florida -- Today, the Polk County School Board named Kathryn LeRoy the new superintendent of schools. 

Mrs. LeRoy was chosen after school officials say Board members narrowed the list to three final candidates. 

The school district says other individuals considered for the position included Polk County Public Schools' Associate Superintendent of Learning David Lewis and Administrator on Assignment for the Lee County School District Dr. Constance Jones.

Police search for missing teen

Winter Haven, Florida --  Police are asking for the public's help in locating Allyssa Marie Atkinson after she went missing on Monday, May 20. 

Around 11:44 a.m., Allyssa Atkinson was transported to 550 Pope Avenue NW by a DCF worker for a medical appointment.  

Atkinson left the medical facility in an unknown direction after she was left unattended momentarily. Police searched the area and were unable to locate her.
