Lakeland, Florida -- Florida Polytechnic University has named its first faculty member.

Robert I. MacCuspie, Ph.D., a research chemist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, comes with more than seven years of experience working in government national labs.  He has also held research positions at the Air Force Research Laboratory and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and mentors undergraduate students.

Winter Haven, Florida -- Winter Haven Police have identified and charged a violent career criminal for recent attacks on women.

Detectives have charged Roger Griffin with armed sexual battery, based on positive identification from DNA evidence obtained from a victim. 

Robert Griffin has an extensive criminal history dating back to 1991 and spans across Hillsborough County, Polk County, Georgia and Mississippi. 

Pinellas Park, Florida -- Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria stopped by Pinellas Park Library Wednesday to kick off the fifth season of the Reading with the Rays - Read Your Way to the Ballpark program.

Longoria read to a group of children, discussed the importance of reading and encouraged them to read over the summer.
