Polk: 16 arrested in retail theft ring

Polk County, Florida -- The Polk Co. Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of several people connected to an organized retail theft ring.

"Malynda is a real professional. She knows how to successfully steal," said Polk Co. Sheriff Grady Judd when speaking about the alleged ringleader of the group.

Malynda Ford allegedly stole from Beall's, Khol's and Home Depot stores throughout the Bay Area.

Elula Cook, a Lakeland City employee at the Cleveland Heights Golf and Country Club, was also arrested in connection with the case.

Haines City students adopt Philippines' school

Haines City, Florida -- Haines City High School's Creativity Action Service Club gave an update to one of their biggest sponsors.

"What we decided to do was create a sister school program in the Philippines," said former club President Veronica Cinibulk.

Hearing of the obstacles students at Lubao National High School have, they decided it was their duty to help by raise money so they could give them the basic necessities -- but that wasn't enough.

High school student busted for "bullying", robbing peer

Winter Haven, Florida-- A Winter Haven High School teen with an extensive criminal history has been busted for bullying after he reportedly robbed one of his peers on multiple occasions. 

According to Winter Haven Police, the situation came to light after 16-year-old Marcus Holland, who is said to already be on felony probation, attempted to steal from the student victim one last time.

Man at car wash points gun, steals victim's cross and chain

Winter Haven, Florida-- Police arrested a man Monday evening after he robbed a victim of his cross and chain with a gun in hand at a local car wash. 

According to the Winter Haven Police Report, 18-year-old Phillip Alphonse was at Dewdney's Car Wash off 1st St. just before 6 p.m. when he approached a man and pulled out a black revolver. 

From there, officials say Alphonse started arguing with the victim, and then yanked the victim's cross and chain from his neck and ran away. 

Prostitution suspects arrested after posing with guns

Lakeland, Florida -- Two women previously arrested in an undercover prostitution sting are back in jail after they posted pictures of themselves with guns on their social media sites.

Polk County Sheriff's detectives say once they saw they pictures they notified the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and then arrested 25-year-old Brittany Dodd and 27-year-old Maylee Rossi.
