Lake Wales, Florida -- With heavy rain on the way overnight, residents in the River Ranch community of Lake Wales are worried they may be cut-off again.

The only road leading into their neighborhood was washed away by last week's heavy rains, and workers had just barely finished putting in a temporary road.

Winter Haven, FL -- Polk County Sheriff's detectives are seeking information about an attempted business burglary that occurred on Sept. 23.

According to detectives, around 2:52 a.m., the man was seen on video surveillance breaking into the Hungry Howie's located at 3006 Winter Lake Road in Winter Haven and trying to take the cash drawer from the cash register. He then fled the scene.

Auburndale, FL -- Five students from Auburndale Senior High School have been chosen to have their work displayed by the Polk Museum of Art student exhibition.  

The Museum is located at 800 E. Palmetto St. in Lakeland.  The exhibit is titled “Photography and Digital Design,” and will run until Nov. 13, 2011.

FWC officer arrested for disclosing confidential info

Winter Haven, FL -- An FWC officer was arrested at his home Monday for misusing and disclosing confidential information he obtained as an employee.

According to a release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, an investigation revealed that 27-year-old Stephen Judah told an aquaintance he was the subject of a confidential "Officer Safety Bulletin" bulletin.

The bulletins are meant for law enforcement enforcement use only, and revealing the contents of the bulletins to the public potentially places officers' lives at risk.

Deadline to apply for Thanksgiving food distribution boxes approaching

Lighthouse Ministries will be distributing food boxes to individuals and families in the community in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Those needing assistance may apply for assistance at one of our five area H.O.P.E. Centers (locations in Lakeland, Winter Haven, Auburndale, Brandon, and Plant City).

All food boxes are completely free, but applications must be completed in full to be eligible. Those requesting assistance from multiple ministries may be denied service. Applications are available until close of business on Friday, Nov. 4. Applications will not be made available online or at our Main Campus.
