Lake Wales, Florida -- With heavy rain on the way overnight, residents in the River Ranch community of Lake Wales are worried they may be cut-off again.

The only road leading into their neighborhood was washed away by last week's heavy rains, and workers had just barely finished putting in a temporary road.

Auburndale, FL -- Five students from Auburndale Senior High School have been chosen to have their work displayed by the Polk Museum of Art student exhibition.  

The Museum is located at 800 E. Palmetto St. in Lakeland.  The exhibit is titled “Photography and Digital Design,” and will run until Nov. 13, 2011.

Polk County, FL -- A number of students and staff from Polk County Public Schools have been named as finalists for the 2010-2011 “Just Read, Florida” statewide awards.

The finalists from Polk County are:

• Middle School Literacy Leader of the Year Finalist:  Dr. Kathryn Blackburn, Principal, Sleepy Hill Middle School, Lakeland
• HS Reading Coach of the Year Finalist:  Tiffany McNally, Tenoroc High School, Lakeland
• HS Reading Teacher of the Year Finalist:  Carol Sue Martin, Ridge Community High School, Haines City
• HS Reading Leadership Team of the Year Finalists:  Ridge Community H. S., Haines City
