Polk County’s Small Business Center has new name

Polk County, Florida-- As part of its economic development restructuring process, the Board of County Commissioners and the Central Florida Development Council, Inc. (CFDC) have announced a name change that better fits expanding services offered to Polk County’s small business community.

Polk Small Business Assistance to become standalone program

Polk County, Florida-- The Polk County Board of County Commissioners announced Thursday more changes as part of the restructuring of the Central Florida Development Council, Inc. (CFDC).

The Polk County small business assistance effort, which provides professional consultation, entrepreneurial training and resources to small startup and mature businesses, will become a standalone entity with a new business model that more closely reflects the needs of the county’s business community.

Winter Haven, FL-- A new ALDI grocery store, described as a "select assortment discount grocer" will open in Winter Haven on January 31.

Doors will open at 9 a.m., and customers will be invited in for the grand opening event with product sampling and on-site sweepstakes!

The store will be located 333 Avenue K SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880.

Polk County offices to close on New year's Day

Polk Co., FL-- The Polk County Board of County Commissioners’ Offices, including the Waste Resource Management Office and the Household Hazardous Waste Facility, will be closed on Tuesday, January 1.

There will be regular waste collection service on Monday, December 31. On Tuesday, January 1, the North Central Landfill will be closed and there will be no residential collection service. Tuesday through Friday services will be delayed by one day.

County Nature Discovery Center to close for the holidays

Polk Co., FL-- Polk’s Nature Discovery Center will be closed December 22 - 25.The trails, however, will remain open the regular hours during this time.

Polk’s Nature Discovery Center is located in the Circle B Bar Reserve at 4399 Winter Lake Rd, Lakeland, FL.
