Cops: Man demands ammunition for his gun at Walmart | Crime
Winter Haven, Florida -- A man demanding ammunition for the gun he carried into a Walmart is now in jail on multiple charges, including threatening an officer.
Winter Haven Police say on July 3, Rodney Lewis finished his beer outside the store on Cypress Gardens Blvd. and walked in heading straight for the sporting goods department. When he was greeted by an associate, Lewis put his gun on the counter and asked for bullets.
When the associate said they weren't allowed to sell him bullets to the gun he had on him, police say Lewis started screaming at the employee. He then put his gun back in his pocket and walked around the store.
Officers say Lewis got really angry when they arrived, prompting him to scream about his first amendment right to carry his firearm. However, Lewis did not have a concealed weapons permit.
Once officers got him out of the store, they say he continued to yell and fight with them, even threatening one of them with bodily harm once he got out of jail.
Lewis is being held on charges of Improper Exhibit Firearm or Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Disorderly Intoxication to Cause Public Disturbance, Disorderly Conduct, Brawling Fighting, Resisting Arrest W/O Violence and Crime Against Person by Threat to Public Servant.
