13-year-old girl arrested during after school fight | Crime

Winter Haven, Florida -- A fight between two girls stemming from a dispute at school earlier in the day resulted in an arrest Thursday afternoon.

Winter Haven Police say the girls attend Denison Middle School and when they left campus, one of them approached the other with a steak knife she was carrying in her pocket.

Authorities say a witness stepped in and was inadvertently cut on the thumb while trying to get the knife away from the 13-year-old. The person's injuries were minor and did not require medical attention.

The girl was arrested and booked into the Polk County Juvenile Assessment Center.
