Glide through Winter Haven's Chain of Lakes on a free kayak tour

Winter Haven, Florida -- Three free kayak tours will show you the splendor of Winter Haven's signature Chain of Lakes.

A guide will show kayakers countless details of the Chain of Lakes and how humans have impacted the environment -- in both positive and negative ways.

Four guided tours will be offered this summer, once per month. They'll take place from 9 to 11 a.m. on May 18, June 16, July 13, and August 17. Registration in advance is required.

Heroes head to Legoland Florida for free in May

Winter Haven, Florida -- If you have a police officer, firefighter, or EMS worker in your family, you can head to Legoland for a lot less in May.

The theme park is holding Police, Fire, and EMS Appreciation Days all through the month of May, 2013.

Anyone in those professions can claim a free one-day admission ticket and buy up to four more tickets for the discounted price of $40 each.

Winter Haven, Florida -- Splash and play for a lot less at Legoland Florida during some weekends in May if you live in Polk County.

During Polk County Residents' Days at the theme park, you can buy up to six tickets in advance for just $25. The tickets get you admission to both Legoland Florida and the Legoland Water Park.

Plus, a portion of each ticket sold goes toward helping children in Polk County.

Bok Tower soothes with moonlight carillon concerts

Lake Wales, Florida -- One of North America's most complex and enchanting musical instruments will fill the night air with music twice in March.

The carillon atop the "Singing Tower" at Bok Tower Gardens is made up of 60 bells. The smallest weighs 16 pounds and the largest is nearly 12 tons.

Using those bells, a musician called a carillonneur will play a stunning hour-long concert in the light of the full moon.

Visitors can relax in the world-famous garden and take in the sights and sounds for only $5 per person. Members get in free.

Hit music, comedy show headed to Ritz on Central for Valentine's Edition

Winter Haven, Florida -- Tallahassee Nights Live, a stage show with a mix of musical genres and comedy, is returning to Polk County for a love-themed Valentine's Day edition.

A range of musical performances covers R&B, soul, hip hop, and more. Comedy and spoken word potions are also part of the show.

The original Tallahassee Nights Live is a monthly performance in the state capital. The show went on the road for the first time with a trip to Polk County last year.

According to the Greater Winter Haven Chamber of Commerce, attendees can look forward to an unabridged, multimedia showing of three of Edgar Allan Poe's most-renowned works: The Cask of Amontillado, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Raven.
