Mother Nature may have rained on Green Celebration, but she didn’t dampen spirits

Polk County, Florida--Dark clouds showered the crowd with rain at the 3rd Annual Green Celebration Concert and Showcase. But that didn’t dampen the spirits of students participating in last Friday’s event held in observance of Earth Day. Earth Day 2012 took place on April 22.

Students from Lincoln Avenue Academy were among those who participated in the creation of a display  that explained what each of their respective schools does to go green, and how these actions are turned into lessons for the staff, students and parents.

Sarasota, Florida -- Saltwater fishing is popular in Florida, but this Saturday you might want to try a local pond or lake, because you won't need a license.

State wildlife officials have designated Saturday, April 7 as a license-free fishing day.

Picking your destination might be the hardest part of this decision, because Florida has more than 3 million acres of lakes, ponds and reservoirs and 12,000 miles of fishable rivers, streams and canals.
