Lake Gibson stuns Winter Haven, 28-24

Lakeland, Florida - The Lake Gibson Braves rallied back from a two-score deficit to defeat Winter Haven in a Class 6A District 10 matchup of unbeaten teams.

Winter Haven (4-1, 1-1) came into the game ranked No. 4 in the state

Next week, Lake Gibson (6-0, 2-0) hosts Ridge Community, and Winter Haven will face Mulberry at home.

Lake Wales claims 5A State Championship

Lakeland, FL -- In the 5A State Basketball championship on Saturday, Lake Wales faced off against Terry Parker out of Jacksonville and came up with a huge win.

Lake Wake just stormed out of the gate. The Highlanders would open up the game with a 10-0 run.

Lake Whales made it an 18-point lead in the 1st quarter with a Russell Wilson steal and layup. It was 19-1 with time winding down in the 1st quarter.

Lake Wales stings Bartow 40-0

Bartow, Fla. - The Bartow Yellow Jackets (3-7) were looking to end the season on a positive note, while the Lake Wales Highlanders (9-1), with a home postseason game next Friday night, were looking for a win without suffering any injuries.

Lake Wales got on the board early in the first quarter when Jonte' Sergeant scored on a 5-yard run.

The Highlanders, leading 13-0 at the half, opened things up a bit, when Ladaran Wilson returned a punt 70 yards for a score.

Lake Wales goes on for the 40-0 win.

Lakeland runs past Lake Region 55-14

Lakeland, FL - The Lakeland Dreadnaughts (5-0) hosted the Lake Region Thunder (4-1) in a Class 7A district battle.

Lakeland scored first when Ricquan Southward ran it in from 47 yards.  

The Thunder answered back when LT Thomas hit wide receiver Andre Palmer with a 26-yard score.

But then it was all Lakeland as their offense and defense began to click.   

Lakeland quarterback Raheeme Dumas ran for a score and hit Dedrick Gallishaw for two more scores, leading the Dreadnaughts to the big 55-14 district win.

Plant City rolls over Durant 43-12

For the first time since 1998, the Plant City Raiders are an undefeated 5-0 and totally in charge of the 7A-8 district playoff race.  Thursday night in home field orange, the Raiders humbled crosstown rival Durant 43-12.

Plant City Senior Antwon Amstrong played one his best games ever, pulling down a career best 3 interceptions while quarterback Bennie Coney threw for 377 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Joe Davis hauled in a 64-yard touchdown pass while Lamarlin Wiggins pulled down a 9-yard score to put the game out of reach.  The win keeps Plant city undefeated at 5-0 and in the drivers seat for the district playoffs. Durang is 3-2, 1-1 in district play.

A rock 'n roll kind of night in Plant city as the Pirates beat Durant 43-12.
