Polk Co. clerk of the court warns of current scams

Polk County, Florida-- The Polk County Clerk of the Circuit Court Stacy Butterfield wants to warn the community of scams taking place throughout the county.

"Someone unlawfully impersonating a clerk's office employee is calling local residents and threatening them with arrest," Butterfield announced in a release to the media. 

Havendale Blvd reopens after two-vehicle crash

Auburndale, Florida -- Auburndale Police officers have reopened all of Havendale Boulevard between 42nd Street and Jersey Road after an investigation into a traffic crash involving two vehicles.

Police say a 2002 Chevy Blazer driven by 78-year-old Elizabeth Welch was leaving the BB&T Bank parking lot when it pulled into the path of a 2007 Ford Fusion. Welch was not wearing a seatbelt at the time and was thrown from the SUV through the driver's side window.

Polk County mayors to meet for 3rd annual Mayors Roundtable

Bartow, FL -- The public is invited to listen-in as Polk County's local Mayors gather to discuss issues affecting the region at the 3rd annual Mayors' Roundtable. 

The event is being hosted by The Polk Vision Government Task Force, and will serve as the first event of the Polk County Leadership Exchange - a series of events designed to strengthen communication and cooperation among governmental entities in Polk County.

Online, underage sex sting nets 41 in Polk County

Winter Haven, FL -- Forty men and one woman are under arrest in Polk County for allegedly trying to have sex with a minor.

It's all part of the latest undercover Internet sting where Polk deputies pose as teenagers, and this one had some disturbing results. It's not just the people who were busted, but what some had brought with them at the time of their arrests.

Saturday, June 22, there will be a ski show by the Cypress Gardens Ski Team at 7:30 p.m. Then a movie, Despicable Me, will begin after dark around 8:45 p.m. 

The event will be held at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park at 3rd Street NW.
