Winter Haven, Florida -- Police are looking for a suspect who robbed an off-duty Polk County Sheriff's Deputy Saturday night. 

On May 18, around 6:55 p.m., an off-duty deputy was entering the Publix, located on Cypress Gardens Blvd. when an unknown black male came up and snatched the Deputy's purse.

The suspect was seen getting in to a bright silver small size SUV - possibly a Mazda or Toyota hatchback-style vehicle.  The vehicle was last seen on south on 8th St., SE.

Polk County, Florida -- Starting Friday, May 17, students enrolled in health science class at Winter Haven High’s Medical Academy will take part in a project called “Wheelchair Awareness.” The project requires students to spend a weekend in a wheelchair. The goal of the project is to help students gain an understanding of what it means to live with physical limitations and help them become more sensitive to future patients who may have physical handicaps.  

Lake Wales, Florida -- Three men have been arrested in the burglary of Lake Wales High School.

Jaylen Kingcade, Trevontae Shuler and a 17-year-old male are the suspects charged with the burglary of the high school which occurred on April 11. 

The three men entered Lake Wales High School and stole computer related electronics. Shuler attempted to sell some of the items stolen during the burglary.

Charging documents have been filed on Shuler, Kingcade and the 17-year-old male for burglary and grand theft.
