Polk County Florida Thief of the Day: Woman rents computer equipment from Rent-A-Center, goes directly to a pawn shop, pawns the equipment for $300. She's caught, of course, and goes directly to jail.

"It is hard to imagine how people think they can get away with this kind of theft," said Sheriff Judd. "This just leaves us shaking our heads."

Yesterday, on 03/14/12, a PCSO deputy responded to Traders Pawn Shop and met with the shop owner and a representative from the Rent-A-Center in Auburndale to document and recover stolen property.

The investigation revealed that 32-year-old Theresa Kimberly Cunningham of 261 18th Street NE, Winter Haven, leased a Toshiba Tablet and a Sony Desktop computer worth $2800.00 from Rent-A-Center.

Cunningham left with the computers and went directly to Traders Pawn Shop where she pawned the property for $300. Staff at Rent-A-Center received a tip that Cunningham had pawned the property and then began checking the pawn shops, finding the computers at Traders Pawn.

The suspect was located at her residence where she was arrested and transported to the county jail. She's being held on$1,000 bond.
