Police: Suspicious package not explosive device | News

Winter Haven, Florida -- Winter Haven Police spent close to three hours in the 700 block of Ave. I, NE Monday morning investigating a suspicious package. 

The fire department arrived at the vacant home at 724 Ave. I, NE after reports of a fire in the back yard. While at the home working the fire, they found a large duffle bag nearby with numerous wires coming out of it along with a beeping sound.

Winter Haven Police arrived and immediately evacuated homes within a two-block radius as a precaution while they worked to determine if the bag was dangerous or not.

Around 10 a.m., police cleared the scene after they did not find any explosives in the bag. 

Winter Haven Police are conducting an investigation on the incident. 10 News will have more information as it becomes available.
