WINTER HAVEN, Florida -- Four people are in local hospitals after a serious crash on Highway 17 in Winter Haven.

According to the Winter Haven Police Department, 33-year-old David Guzman reportedly crashed his Chevy Trailblazer into the back of a Chevy Tahoe driver by 27-year-old Andrew Estes.

The impact sent Estes' vehicle into the oncoming traffic lane at Avenue F NW, causing him to crash head on into a GMC Jimmy. The Jimmy rolled over and landed on the passenger side.

The driver of that vehicle, 16-year-old Alexis Shumate of Auburndale, was airlifted to Lakeland Regional hospital, along with Guzman and two others.

Four other people were taken to Winter Haven Hospital, treated for minor injuries, and released.

The crash is currently under investigation.

Anyone who may have any information regarding the crash is asked to contact Winter Haven Police Traffic Sgt. Ken Nichols at 863-291-5733 or Officer Justin Minser at 863-291-5704, ext. 2247.
