WINTER HAVEN, Florida -- Investigators say autopsy results show a high school student whose body was found along a hiking trail had been shot to death.
Winter Haven Police say 18-year-old Alicia Barnett died from multiple gunshot wounds. Her body was found Monday along the Chain of Lakes Trail.
"The members of the Winter Haven Police Department are dedicated to finding the killer or killers responsible for this tragedy," said Chief Gary Hester in a news release.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for anyone who has information that will lead to Barnett's killer.
Barnett appears to have been killed as she was walking to school. The teen attended New Beginnings, which is a charter school for students who had problems in traditional schools.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-226-8477.
