Burglar caught with stolen items during traffic stop

Winter Haven, Florida -- An 18-year-old man was arrested last week when numerous stolen items were found in his possession during a traffic stop.

During the stop, officers found a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia in Geronimo Conchiese Gordon-Watson's possession prompting a full search of his belongings. The stolen items, including a piece that had the victim's name engraved on it, were found in his backpack.

Winter Haven Police seek 'violent and dangerous' man

Winter Haven, Florida-- Winter Haven Police ask for the public's help in locating a violent and dangerous man who threatened a pregnant woman at knifepoint after he kicked in her door overnight.

On May 14 at approximately 2:50 a.m., Jimmy Wayne Reddick, Jr., 35, of Winter Haven, kicked in the door of his former girlfriend's apartment in the 4000 block of Vista Del Lago Dr., NE in Winter Haven.

The girlfriend is seven months pregnant and also had her 8-year-old son in the apartment at the time.

Polk County, Florida-- Have you been ripped off by 42-year-old Shawn Jordan, 42?  Jordan is currently in the Polk County Jail on charges ranging from Battery and Trespassing, to Grand Theft, and Fraud.

Seniors vs. Crime, a joint partnership between the Florida Attorney General’s Office, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the Haines City Police Department, and senior citizen volunteers, has six listed complaints so far, and there may be others.

Stamp Out Hunger - leave food at your mailbox on Saturday

Tampa, Florida --  The U.S. Postal Service and its letter carriers ask Tampa residents to join them and the rest of the nation in combating one of the U.S' growing problems, hunger, by leaving food at your mailboxes on Saturday, May 12. 

According to USPS, this one-day food drive is the nation’s largest single-day food drive across America — including Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

Seniors from six Polk County high schools had lunch with Polk County Public Schools’ Superintendent Dr. Sherrie B. Nickell and Associate Superintendent of Learning, David F. Lewis. 

Lunch and Learn was held on Thursday, May 3 at the Community Southern Bank in Lakeland. Three times during the academic school year, Polk County Public Schools’ seniors are given a chance to share their insights and experiences when they meet face-to-face with Dr. Nickell and Mr. Lewis.
