The event takes place at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at the station – 112 West Palmetto Street, Davenport. It's free and the community is invited to attend the ceremonies and take a tour of the new facility.

Gulf Gate Library moves to Westfield Sarasota Square Mall

Sarasota, Florida -- Patrons of Gulf Gate Library won't be traveling very far for services while a new library is built. A temporary location has been secured at Westfield Sarasota Square Mall.

The County Commission approved a lease agreement on a 20,000-square-foot space at the southernmost end of the mall, adjacent to JCPenny.

The existing Gulf Gate Library is expected to close in December and the new temporary location is projected to open in January 2013.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The National Weather Service now confirms seven tornadoes as a result of Tropical Storm Debby.

Flood insurance premiums discounted for Polk residents

Polk County, FL -- As a result of the county’s efforts, residents in unincorporated Polk County will receive an additional 5 percent savings on flood insurance premiums.

Aiming to reduce flood losses, facilitate accurate insurance rating and promote flood insurance awareness, the National Flood Insurance Program’s (NFIP) voluntary, incentive based Community Rating System (CRS) recognizes and encourages community floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum requirements.
