Winter Haven, Florida-- The construction of the Third St SW Trail in the Lake Howard area continues, and city officials are saying as of May 8, locals lwill have a temporary change to a nearby roadway. 

According to a report sent Thursday, Third Street SW, between Avenues B and Avenue F SW, will become one-way northbound

Polk County "Click it or Ticket" initiative busts hundreds

Polk County, Florida-- Commuters who failed to buckle-up between March 1 and March 16 were likely ticketed accordingly, as Polk Sheriff's deputies participated in the nationwide "Click it or Ticket" initiative. 

Polk County Sheriff's Office records show seat belt citations issued during that time exceeded 300, and speeding citations issued took a close second with 295.

While patrolling for those who failed to "click it", deputies also found others in violation of various laws.

A recent release sent from the Polk County Sheriff's Office says deputies will be on high alert over the weekend, and they'll be cracking down on intoxicated drivers.

Bradenton, Florida -- Now through March 16, Sarasota County Police is joining other law enforcement agencies to help save lives by strictly enforcing seat belt laws around the clock.

Sinage will be posted reading "Click It or Ticket" at different locations throughout the city to remind drivers that buckling up is the law and if you don't it'll cost you $116.

"Stop" signs to be replaced near Chain of Lakes Trail

Winter Haven, Florida – The city is making some changes to Avenue I NW near the Chain of Lakes Trail.

They say they plan to remove traffic "stop" signs for east and west bound traffic, and replace them with amber flashing LED lighting with pedestrian crossing signs will replace them.

Warning signs will also be installed for pedestrians on the Chain of Lakes Trail, notifying pedestrians that “stop” signs for vehicle traffic have been removed.

This change is set to take place this coming Friday, February 8.

FDOT alerts commuters of roads to "watch" for this week

Polk Co. FL-- The Florida Department of Transportation released their Road Watch Report for this week. 

According to the report, the following roadways will undergo maintinance or construction projects.

Commuters are advised to drive with caution though these areas, or plan alternative routes. It is also encouraged to allow for extra travel time.

Davenport, Florida -- Beginning Friday, Dec. 21, County Road 54 (Ronald Reagan Parkway) from Balmoral Court to Pinewood Drive will experience intermittent lane closures for a month as crews replace broken water valve boxes within the roadway.

As part of the county’s Kathleen Road widening project, Kathleen Oaks between Kathleen Road and Cheatwood Drive will close for four days starting Wednesday, Dec. 26 to reconstruct the intersection with Kathleen Road. Traffic will be detoured from Kathleen Road east onto Polk Ave., then south onto Cheatwood Drive to Kathleen Oaks.
